The Philippine Competition Commission has rolled out the second leg of its campus tour on competition law and policy at the Ateneo de Manila University earlier today, addressing mostly economics students who were encouraged to learn about the antitrust law.

As resource persons, Mr. Edgardo Manuel M. Jopson of the PCC Economics Office discussed the benefits of competition to consumers and businesses alike; Ms. Anna Monina L. Sanchez of the Office of Commissioner Amabelle Asuncion gave the audience an overview of the Philippine Competition Act and the Philippine Competition Commission; Atty. Estelle Marielle F. Delfin of the Competition.

Enforcement Office (CEO) focused her presentation on abuse of dominant position; Atty. James Daniel S. Donato spelled out the different types of anti-competitive agreements; and Atty. Akemi B. Aida of the Mergers and Acquisitions Office underscored the importance of merger reviews to prevent anti-competitive transactions.

The competition forum will also visit the University of the Philippines on Oct. 24, and De La Salle University on Oct. 27.
