Students from the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City were presented earlier today with talks on the Philippine Competition Act, the role of economics behind it, and national competition policy in focus.

Economist Cara Latinazo spoke about the benefits of competition for consumers and businesses, Executive Director Atty. Gwen De Vera gave an overview of the Philippine Competition Act and how the Philippine Competition Commission operates as the antitrust authority in the country, Atty. Ferdinand Redulla and Atty. Genevieve Jusi oriented the students about the different types of anti-competitive agreements, while Atty. Ivy Medina discussed the processes behind merger and acquisition reviews.

The event is the 3rd part of the lecture series in different campuses in Metro Manila with the last leg set on Oct. 27 at De La Salle University.
